Vega Founder
Darren Klugman, MD, MS is an internationally recognized pediatric cardiac critical care physician bringing more than two decades of frontline expertise to his role as the founder at Vega Pediatrics. Board-certified in pediatrics, pediatric critical care medicine, and pediatric cardiology, Dr. Klugman built his career at two of the nation's most prestigious children's hospitals serving as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at Children's National Hospital and, most recently, as Director of Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care and Director of Quality & Safety at the Blalock-Taussig-Thomas Pediatric and Congenital Heart Center at Johns Hopkins. Throughout his career, Dr. Klugman has led multidisciplinary teams caring for the most complex children with congenital and acquired heart disease, from newborns through young adults.
Dr. Klugman is the co-author of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Handbook, the field's definitive clinical reference, endorsed by the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, and has authored or co-authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications spanning outcomes research, quality improvement, and clinical care innovation. He has served as the National Project Lead for the Solutions for Patient Safety collaborative, as Secretary of the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, Chair of the Quality Committee and Executive Committee member of the Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care Consortium. Dr. Klugman is a sought after keynote speaker and has delivered keynote and plenary addresses at major conferences across the United States, Canada, Europe, Israel, Singapore, and beyond.
